Projects

Work logs, collaboration notes, and things in progress

Workshop Philosophy

This isn't a portfolio - it's a workshop. 100+ projects in ~/code/, 75% modified in the last 30 days. Almost none are "products." They're tools I use.

See Building Tools for Yourself for the full philosophy.

Products vs. Personal Tools

Products Personal Tools
Built for users (plural) Built for yourself (singular)
Need onboarding, docs, support You already know how to use them
Must handle edge cases Your edge cases only
Stable, maintained, versioned Can break, can be hacky, can change daily
External validation required Only validation: do you use it?

The Freedom This Enables

Can build quickly: No need for polish, error messages, or edge case handling. Rough works if you know the edges.

Can break things: Refactor aggressively, delete features, change everything. No users to upset.

Can be weird: Unconventional architectures, experimental features, combine things weirdly. No one to judge.

The 75% Activity Rate

Why so many projects are active: they solve actual problems experienced daily. Not theoretical problems. Not problems users might have. Problems I face.

If they weren't useful, they'd be archived.

The Big Three

Foundation infrastructure that everything else builds on:

  • Scrapbook-core - Digital memory palace. 9,485 scraps. Alfred for speed, web for browsing.
  • Coach Artie - Multi-interface AI. Discord + SMS + web. Context-aware.
  • Connectology - Network visualization. Web + desktop. Visual thinking tool.

Design Principles

From meta-patterns analysis:

Not optimizing for external users, monetization, or portfolio pieces. Optimizing for long-term personal utility and systems that compound over time.

Active Development

Scrapbook

Coach Artie Ecosystem

The Coach Artie AI coaching platform with multiple interfaces and capabilities:
